Aviation Maintenance Technology: Airframe
Program Description
The aviation industry offers attractive positions for skilled, certified technicians who can repair, maintain and inspect
aircraft. Tulsa Tech’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program is second to none in course content and
instructional facilities. Housed in a cutting-edge facility designed specifically for aviation instruction, the AMT program
is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFRs)
Part 147 to offer training leading to FAA certification as an airframe and powerplant technician. The FAA-approved portion of the program features three basic parts: (1) General, (2) Airframe, and (3) Powerplant. You must successfully complete the General program before entering either the Airframe and/or Powerplant part of the program.
Skilled airframe technicians play a major role in the aviation industry in repairing and inspecting aircraft structures
and related systems. Building on the core knowledge of General, Tulsa Tech’s Airframe instruction focuses on the
body of aircraft and making structural repairs. You will also explore aircraft systems such as landing gears, hydraulic, climate control, instrument, and fire detection and suppression systems. Most importantly, you will apply classroom
theory on actual aircraft in a hangar setting that rivals any operational repair center. You may enter the Powerplant
program after completing this program or apply an additional nine hours of credit toward an associate or bachelors degree or after certification, opt for a good-paying job as an airframe inspector or mechanic.
