Science, Technology, & Engineering

A career in science, technology and related areas is challenging and ever-changing as new developments and technologies emerge. A career in this area may lead you to activities such as planning, managing, conducting and sharing scientific research; professional and technical services including laboratory, testing and investigative services; and research and development services.

Preparing for these high-tech fields will require you to learn the processes necessary to engage in discovery, and understand the roles of gathering, creating, processing and sharing data. Your studies have the opportunity to lead you to a wide variety of workplaces, including hospitals, government agencies, corporate research and development departments, law enforcement forensic laboratories, classrooms and more.

A broad understanding of math and science, in addition to natural curiosity, will help you as you analyze data and share your findings and knowledge for the common good.

  • Pre Engineering Technology
You will learn how engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems through the study of engineering design, digital electronics, principles of engineering, computer integrated manufacturing, and engineering design and development. Simply put, you will learn (1) the product design and development process; (2) the production process and how a product is analyzed and evaluated; (3) to design circuits, export designs for production, and construct the designs; (4) to evaluate product design solutions, make design modifications and produce three-dimensional models of solutions, and (5) to design and construct solutions to engineering problems.
  • Biomedical Sciences
This program offers high school students a dynamic curriculum that uses real world experiences and hands-on learning. Students with interest in exploring the variety of occupations that medicine offers will find Project Lead The Way’s (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences program a fantastic doorway to a future in the industry.
